What Can Be Dry Cleaned?

Suits, dresses, formal wear, wool, silk and anything labeled dry clean only should be dry cleaned. We clean each garment according to its care label.

What Dry Cleaning Is

Dry cleaning cleans without water. A liquid solvent gently cleans the garment instead. In water, yarns swell and take more agitation in the wash. That does not happen in dry cleaning, which helps a garment last longer.

Usually Dry Cleaned

  • Suits and sport coats
  • Dresses, skirts and blouses
  • Formal wear
  • Wool, silk and other delicate fabrics
  • Coats and outerwear

Usually Laundered Instead

Most button-down shirts are not dry cleaned. The standard method is to launder them, then dry and press them with steam. Laundering gives cleaner, longer-lasting shirts and the best pressing results at about half the price. More than 80% of the shirts we handle are laundered and pressed, then returned on hangers.

Household Items

We also clean comforters, curtains, delicate tablecloths and decorative pillows, items that regular washing can shrink or damage.
